7 Best Z490 Motherboards

The best Z490 motherboard will depend on your budget, the type of computer you are trying to build, and what you want it for.

If you are building a gaming PC with liquid cooling or overclocking in mind, then an X99 chipset is desirable. These motherboards have more PCI-E slots available for graphics cards and other add-in boards. But if all you need is a good gaming rig without any fancy extras, then Intel’s Z270 chipset will suffice just fine. Keep in mind that this board has two fewer PCI-E slots than the X99 chipset does though. If your needs are somewhere in between these two extremes then there are plenty of options out there with the latest chipsets from both companies to choose from.
