The game Call of Duty: Vanguard has players experience combat through the eyes of a soldier. Players will need to rely on their weaponry in order to survive, but not every weapon is created equal. The best weapons are those that guarantee you better performance, while the lower-tier weapons require extra effort to succeed in combat.
This article will break down the various weapons in order to help you decide which are best for your play style. The list is based on the weapon’s individual stats, including damage output over distance, accuracy at range, and how easy it is to use in general.
Recommended Weapons This section contains a list of all the weapons that are worth your time. They are divided into four tiers: recommended, situational, mediocre, and bad weapons.
Assault Rifles Assault rifles are best suited for medium to long-range combat. They offer a decent balance of accuracy and power, but most often require you to hit the enemy multiple times in order to take them down. There are two assault rifles that stand out from the rest. They are the STG44 and NZ-41.
S Tier- STG44
The STG44 is a well-rounded weapon that can be used both in the close and medium range. It has decent damage output, excellent accuracy, and minimal recoil at all ranges.
A Tier- NZ-41
The NZ41 is a very versatile weapon. It has great accuracy and minimal recoil at all ranges, good damage output, and is easy to use in general. Along with the STG44, this is one of the most popular weapons in Vanguard.
B Tier- BAR
The BAR has the highest damage output of any automatic weapon in Vanguard. However, it is very hard to control due to its heavy recoil and bad accuracy at range. That being said, if you are comfortable with the BAR’s recoil this weapon is a must-have for close-quarter engagements.
B Tier- Volk-
The Volk-43 is a great medium-range weapon. Its accuracy and damage output are excellent, but it has a very long reload time which makes it tricky to use in close combat.
C Tier- ITRA Burst
The ITRA Burst SMG is a decent weapon, but it’s a bit too reliant on headshots. Also, the recoil is very difficult to control and can make aiming tricky at times. If you can master this weapon it may be worth using as your primary in close quarters combat, otherwise, stick with other automatic weapons.
Launchers are best for taking down enemy aircraft from the ground, but they can also be used for suppressive fire in close quarters. The best launcher is the Panzerfaust 30+ which has a decent reload speed and high damage output.
A Tier- Panzerschreck
The Panzerschreck has a high damage output and reloads relatively quickly. It is also very easy to hit targets with this weapon, making it great for taking down aircraft from the ground.
B Tier- M1 Bazooka
The M1 Bazooka is a decent weapon, but it has a very slow reload time making it tough to use in close quarters. However, if you can master the bazooka’s aim this weapon may be worth using against enemy aircraft on ground maps.
Unlike assault rifles, sniper rifles are best used for medium to long-range combat. They have good accuracy at range and high damage output but suffer from a lengthy reload time which limits their usage in close quarters.
A Tier- Kar98k
The Kar98k is a very powerful weapon that excels at taking down enemies from medium to long-range. Although it has a long reload time, this problem can be negated if you are able to land headshots on enemy soldiers.
B Tier3- line rifle
The line rifle is a decent weapon if you can land headshots, but it’s difficult to control and maybe too powerful for close quarters. However, this makes it excellent for medium-range combat if you can aim well.
LMGs are similar to Assault Rifles in that they offer a good balance of power and accuracy, but most often require you to hit the enemy multiple times.
S Tier- DP27
The DP27 has a large magazine, high damage output, and good accuracy at range. It’s the go-to weapon if you want to use an LMG as your primary in Vanguard.
A Tier- MG42
The MG42 is a great LMG with high damage output and excellent accuracy at range. The only downside is the long reload time, but this can be negated if you use it alongside other weapons due to its fast fire rate.
C Tier- Bren
The Bren Gun is a decent LMG, but it’s very hard to control and has a long reload time. This makes it difficult to use in close combat. If you can master this weapon with its high damage output, then the Bren Gun may be worth using in medium-range engagements.
Shotguns are best used in close-quarter combat since they have a short-range and high damage output.
A Tier- Revolving Shotgun
The revolving shotgun is a deadly weapon capable of destroying enemies in close quarters with just one or two shots. This makes it an excellent secondary for Vanguard since you can use it whenever you run out of ammunition for your primary weapon.
B Tier- Double Barrel Shotgun
The double barrel is a decent weapon, but the slow reload time and low damage output make it difficult to use in close quarters. If you are able to manage the shotgun’s recoil, this weapon may be worth using against enemy aircraft.
B Tier- Auto-Loading Shotgun
The auto-loading shotgun can be a decent weapon if you can manage its recoil. But due to the short-range and low damage output, this weapon isn’t very effective in Vanguard.
B Tier- Sawed Off Shotgun
Despite being an excellent secondary for other game modes since it has high damage output at close ranges, the sawed-off is a very poor weapon in Vanguard since it has a short-range and low damage output. If you can master the sawed-off’s recoil, this weapon may be worth using against enemy aircraft.
SMGs are best used at close ranges due to their high damage output and fast fire rate. They also offer a good balance of accuracy and range, making them decent secondary weapons for players who prefer to fight with Assault Rifles.
S Tier- PPSH 41
The PPSH 41 is a deadly weapon capable of tearing through enemy infantry in Vanguard mode. It fires at an incredible rate, so you should have no problem mowing down enemies with this weapon.
A Tier- M3
The M3 is an effective weapon in Vanguard mode due to its high accuracy and decent damage output. However, it does suffer from a slower reload time compared to the PPSH 41.
B Tier- Type 100
The Type 100 is inferior to weapons like the PPSH 41 and M3 due to its lower damage output and slower fire rate. However, it does offer a higher range compared to other SMGs, allowing you to fight at medium ranges without sacrificing power.
